Skarie History

Skarie, Inc. was started in 1946 when Eugene B. Skarie began selling radial arm saws out of his pick-up truck.  The company quickly grew and expanded into selling all types of wood and metal working equipment.  Mr. Skarie was a pioneer in marketing as he had a live TV show where he demonstrated various woodworking tools.  In 1954 Skarie, Inc. hired Mr. Newton C. Dunn.  Mr. Dunn became the general manager of the store and is still active in the business after 54 years.  Today he heads the used equipment department at Skarie and is a wealth of information that will never be replaced.  In the mid 1960’s Skarie, Inc. focused the business on the sale of woodworking equipment exclusively.  After the death of Mr. Skarie in 1988 the business was purchased by Carmel Kelly and Rich Huebler in the summer of 1989.  Since that time the company has concentrated on the sale of industrial quality woodworking machinery to high end hobbyists, government, and professional shops.  In 1999 Skarie, Inc. became the Mid-Atlantic Technology Center for MultiCam.  MultiCam is a leading manufacturer of CNC routers, waterjets, plasma cutters and lasers.  Today the sale of MultiCam machinery and related software, tooling, training and material handling equipment accounts for the majority of sales at Skarie, Inc.  With the release in 2003 of the MultiCam CNC plasma cutters Skarie, Inc. has come full circle and is now servicing both the wood and metal working industries.  Skarie, Inc. stands ready to help you with your machinery needs.
